Dir -IDD. Mr. Jacob Gala
Under the Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG) and its Reform Program for the Productive Sector – Policy No. 4.2.2.3: Trade, Commerce, Industries and Immigration, the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration (MCILI) has been assigned 14 Priority Policy Objectives (PPOs). The Industrial Development Division (IDD) is responsible for implementing six of these PPOs.
I am fully aware of the many challenges the Division has faced in implementing previous Annual Work Plans (AWPs). Among these challenges are the restrictive measures encountered by our technical officers in accessing necessary financial resources and expert technical assistance required to support the implementation of national priority development projects.
Despite these obstacles, the Division remains fully committed and dedicated to delivering on its objectives.
We value the spirit of cooperation that continues to exist with our likeminded commercial divisions—Business and Cooperatives Division (BCD), Marketing and Promotion Division (MPD), and Foreign Investment Division (FID). Their timely and constructive responses to our implementation efforts—especially in areas such as national private sector support and the promotion and development of SMEs—are greatly appreciated. We also acknowledge the respect and support extended to us by our project advisers, consultants, and development counterparts.
As we move forward, we will continue to nurture the trust, confidence, and cooperation that have been established, and we will actively promote these values in our engagement with private sector operators.
In our collective efforts to elevate the Solomon Islands to new heights of economic growth, the participation of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is not just important—it is essential. Supporting and empowering them to become active partners in national development remains a top priority for the Division.
