The Immigration Division administers the Immigration Act 2012 and the Passport Act 2012. It is the Solomon Islands Government’s Division responsible for the enforcement of these immigration laws. The Division issues legal travel documents and permits to Solomon Islands citizens and foreign nationals in accordance with these laws and the Solomon Islands Government’s immigration policies. It is responsible for ensuring that people, who travel through Solomon Islands’ borders, do so legally.

How do i apply for passport and what are the fees?

We have 3 Types of Passports:

  1. Ordinary passport valid for 10 years for general citizens for travel abroad. ($1000.00)
  2. Official Passports valid for 10 years for officials on duty travel 
  3. Diplomatic Passport valid for 10 years for diplomats and senior government officials.

Requirments for an ordinary passport.

  1. Completed Passport application Form
  2. Certified Birth Certificate
  3. Two passport size photos
  4. Old passport (for renewal)
  5. Marriage Certificate (if applying under a married name)
  6. Payment Receipt for the passport fee.
  7. Two declaration forms. (One filled by family members and another by friend)

How long it takes to process a passport?

Collect your passport after 14 working days (or sooner for express fees)

What visa should i apply for?

There are two main categories:

  1. Short Term Visa
    1. Tourist Visa
    2. Visitors visa
    3. Business visa

The Division is made up of four Units that are responsible for the issuing of passports and visas and for ensuring that people who travel through Solomon Islands’ borders, do so legally.

    The Immigration Division is made up of four Units. They include the Border Control Unit, Permit Unit, Passport Unit and Enforcement Unit.

    Visa Information

    Solomon Islands issues visas to foreign nationals wishing to visit Solomon Islands or those wishing to the country for a longer term stay. Exemptions are given to people with diplomatic privileges or foreign nationals working for the Solomon islands Government.
