This function provides guidelines, planning and framework for acquisition of land or utilizing government crown land for facilitation of export zones, economic growth centers and development of industrial estates in the provincial centers and Honiara city, these estates and centers should have different activities or multi-activities to facilitate trade. The development of economic growth centres still remains with the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) under the assignment of responsibility issued by the Governor General in 2014. In the near future, however, this function should be transferred to MCILI from MRD.
