Conciliation is the process of reaching an agreement through a process of negotiation.

It is the step before  arbitration and is meant to facilitate or encourage the amicable settlement of trade disputes between employees and employers in accordance with the options for conciliation given in Section 4 of the  Trade Disputes Act 1981.
