o Permit Unit receives grant fee receipt
Permit Unit receives receipt of grant fee from the Ministry of Finance and Treasury. This step concludes the application process and applicant is now permitted to enter the Solomon Islands.
o Passport presented to Permit Unit
Applicant can now present passport to Permit Unit for stamping/issuance of visa. This is usually done upon arrival in the country or before travelling to the Solomon Islands.

A fee may be charged for the processing and granting of a Long term employment visa. Payments are to be made in Solomon Islands dollars or paid out in cheque to the Solomon Islands Government – Immigration Division.
Payments are to be made at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MoFT). An official receipt will be issued. A copy of the receipt will be forwarded to the Immigration Division’s Permit Unit.
If applying from overseas, applicant can pay at their nearest Solomon Islands High Commission office or Consulate or Embassy and send in a scanned copy of the receipt with their completed application form. Alternatively the applicant can request approval from the Director of Immigration to pay upon arrival.

3. Consideration done by the Senior Immigration Officer
4. Approval & further consideration done by the Chief Immigration officer
5. Approval letter issued to applicant (grant)

Copies of the following documents must be attached with the application Form for a long term employment visa.
- Cover letter – from entity wishing to sponsor applicant to work in Solomon Islands stating reasons for doing so.
- FORM 16-EMPLOYMENT AND SPECIAL PURPOSE SPONSORSHIP FORM
- Passport photo (If applying from overseas scanned color copy of application form with passport photo attached must be submitted)
- Passport bio-data page
- Police clearance or report
- Medical report
- Marriage certificate (if married)
- Work Permit

- After filling out the visa application form and attaching the required documents, submission of the form to the Immigration Division will require payment of an application fee.
o The Application Form
Applications for a long term employment visa are made by filling out the Immigration Division’s visa application Form 5. This form can be downloaded from this website or collected from the Immigration Division Office.

- If the applicant is the holder of a visitor visa or business visa and is applying to convert this to a long-term employment visa, an additional fee of SBD$7,000 applies.
- All family members (Children) of a foreigner that holds a Long Term Employment Visa must apply for a separate Foreign National Dependant Visa each.
- Foreigners engaged with the Solomon Islands government and diplomatic organizations are exempted from the requirements for a visa.
